CAZORLA + SALEME are queer Venezuelan-American artists and aunt–niece collaborators Patricia Cazorla and Nancy Saleme. After moving to New York in the mid-1990s, they formed their collaborative practice in 2010 in response to Arizona’s racial profiling of Latinx communities, and particularly farm workers.

Over the years, as they fostered social awareness and community engagement through their public art projects, their practice evolved into a catalyst for hope, resilience, and the democratization of beauty.

Working across public art and mixed media, their practice merges the urban landscape with the human experience. Their luminous, fluorescent palette and layered compositions evoke a transformative aesthetic that invites reflection and visibility.

Flowers mark life’s key moments—weddings, memorials, holidays, and gatherings—while plants extend care into something ongoing, living, and tended over time.

Working between commerce and care, these practices use natural materials to create forms that hold memory and meaning. This installation draws on those gestures—bouquets, houseplants, tools, and daily rituals—to honor the labor behind making care visible.
